Stories, art, ideas, resources gathered for those experiencing loss & grief

Introduction

Fuck. If you’re reading this, I hate that you’re here too. I hate that you’ve lost someone. Whether it was recent or long ago (I bet it still feels like yesterday), whether it’s someone immediate to you or a friend of friend, you’ve lost someone and loss can be unchartered territory.

Below are some of the things that have gotten me through my losses, although all have proven beneficial at very different times. And reminder that it’s okay to take what you need and leave what you don’t - there is no remedy that works for everyone but you know you best.

Disclaimer & Professional Help

I’m not an expert in grief or loss but like most of us here unfortunately, I know it well, and I know that I will continue to get to know it throughout this lifetime.

I’m not a therapist or counselor, these are just tools and resources that felt like a much needed life raft while I was drowning, and whenever I still feel like I’m drowning. I also want to preface that I have used therapy / grief counseling on and off since my loss and I could not recommend working with a professional more.

I offer Not Another Sympathy Card knowing how unique we all are, and that no two losses are the same, but I also know that the sensation of grief & loss is one of the most universal feelings in this life, an experience we will all meet one day. My hope is that this space feels like a warm hug, & that you feel less alone in your grief journey. Sending so much love your way xx.

my dear friend grief

Did you know that Beyonce wrote Heaven after the death of her first child due to a miscarriage? And that the lead singer of Green Day wrote Wake Me up When September Ends about losing his dad at 10 years old? The grieving are everywhere once you open your eyes to it.
